Lightweight
Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) is a directory listing of people, individual's
certificates and resources. LDAP allows you to search for individuals
by name, email, phone number, organization, organizational unit, city
or street. The most common search is to locate names of individuals
and their email addresses. The instructions below will assist you in
setting up your LDAP directory for ORC Interim External Certificate
Authority.
Open Netscape Communicator 4.X and select Communicator | Address
Book.
When the Address Book opens select File | New Directory.
A window as shown below will appear. Type in the following information:
To Search for A Name in The LDAP Directory
Open Netscape Communicator 4.X and select Communicator | Address
Book. The window below will appear.

In the Left frame highlight the ORC ECA Directory. Then type
in the name you are searching for in the Show names containing:
box.
For Extended Search Capabilities
Click
the Search for... button.

Type in appropriate information.

LDAP is the proposed open standard protocol for directory services
over TCP network protocol. LDAP can be used to access standalone LDAP
directory services or those supporting the X.509 Standard. This provides
a standard way for Internet clients, applications, and Web servers
to access directory listings of millions of Internet users.
